Oticon, Inc. channeled this design and taught their new hearing aid to process sound in a similar fashion for a more natural sound translation.
Their new hearing aid is the first to include an on-board deep neural network, or DNN. Oticon tested the DNN on 12 million everyday sounds so it is prepared to translate and identify the intricacies of sound. Just as the brain learns gradually over time, so the DNN learned its 12 million sounds naturally over time. This method is Oticon’s BrainHearing technology.
As a result, Oticon More wearers can put less effort into understanding sounds and speech, with 30% more sound channeled to the brain and 15% improved understanding of speech. Those with hearing loss can put even less effort into translating speech and hear sounds through hearing aids more naturally than ever before.
